Colorlight Signals

Colorlight Signals used multiple colored lenses, each with their
own light source. Different bulbs were turned on to show different
aspects. Colorlight signals manufactured by more modern companies
such as Safetran can be found everywhere on railroads today, many
sporting new LED modules.
Union Switch and Signal Colorlights:
These are both style TP-5 colorlight signals. These
were a common choice for railroads such as the Rock Island Railroad
and the Cotton Belt.
This is a US&S PL-2 signal. This is known as a
"position light" signal bevause it uses the position
of it's lights to show different aspects. This signal is configured
how the N&W railroad would have used it, with colored lenses
in the "Stop" and "Clear" positions and standard
yellow lenses in everything else. Click the signal to see it's

General Railway Signal Company colorlights:
This is a GRS type G colorlight signal. These were
a very common choice for railroads such as the New York Central
system, Penn Central, and later Conrail. These were also heavily
used by the Missouri Pacific.
Chicago Railway Signal and Supply
Co Colorlights:
Signals manufacured by Chicago are known to be very
uncommon. Shown below is a 3 light vertical colorlight. Not pictured
is a tri-light similar to the TP5 and type G shown above.
